Hi everyone! If you're in LA on the 21st, definitely try to attend - it's about time our voices are heard.

West Coast - Los Angeles, California

On June 21, 2008, there will be a large-scale candlelight vigil and speak-out / open mic for victims of police brutality. There will be phenomenal speakers, a "know your rights" workshop on the side, and the critically acclaimed Tamil Sri Lankan-American, political theatre artist/writer and music producer, D'LO as MC. (http://www.myspace.com/dlocokid)

In particular, we will be honoring the following people who have been recently shot and killed by police-

Usman Chaudhry, a 21 year old autistic Muslim man

Michael Sungman Cho, a 25 year old UCLA alum and Korean American artist

Michael Byoune, a 19 year old African American aspiring chef

Roketi Su'e, a Samoan 46 year old terminally ill cancer patient

Please come and join us in taking a stand against police brutality.
Time: 6:30 PM
Place: 1435 N. Curson, West Hollywood, CA

Silly, to think that this post will bring them there, really.
1. It's pretty public, and there will be lots of people, which means the police have to know about it because you have to register large demonstrations with the proper authorities.
2. The whole world is watching, let them try and incriminate themselves at a peaceful vigil.
3. This is not the only place this is posted, and be certain that the government reads email and all of the social networking sites.

You can't let them cause you to live your life in fear. Feel free not to go, I'm just passing the word for those who might be interested.

I don't live in fear. I know better than to do something stupid around a police officer. the first guy stabbed a cop, after hiding in bushes, before getting shot. the second guy threatened cops with a tire iron. the third guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time. the fourth guy was violent with cops.

what did you expect would happen after you stripped cops of tasers?
